Stuart A Staples is the lead singer of British band Tindersticks, which still exists, but Stuart is about to put out his second solo CD titled Leaving Songs. It was just last year that his first CD Lucky Day Recordings came out. It didn't come out in the US but Leaving Songs
will be on June 20th, and it will be packaged with Lucky Day Recordings - I'm terribly excited about that!
There isn't a single Tindersticks CD I'm not in love with. They have sort of a polished indie sound, are heavily orchestrated (especially early on) and generally write gorgeous ballads
and mid-tempo waltzes. Stuart has a deep, love-lorn croon that you either can't get into or love to death - needless to say I belong to the latter group of folks.

I looked the the Tindersticks material available on youtube.com and found these three to have the better sound, and they're three of my Tindersticks favorites.
Should put you in the "I love Tindersticks" group or the "I really don't like them" group - I don't think there's an in-between :)
First song "Bathtime" is from their third album "Curtains" from 1997. Second song
"City Sickness" is from their first, self-titled album from 1993. Third song "Raindrops" is
also from their self-titled debut.

Give 'em a shot
