After a rather sleepless night, I made it out of bed (couch) at 9:40 ET...

I am a VERY slow riser....

Oh, that's right, Good morning :)

I had about 4 hours of sleep last night. I was not doing a jig at 4:30 AM :o . I do not reach that point until about 10:00 am after large amounts of caffine.

It must have been a bucket of caffeine to even dance a jig at all after 4 hours sleep!

I was in bed until just before midday - but I didn't sleep till after 5am! I've been on the caffeine (Thank god for dark chocolate!) and it's off for work at 6pm.

I "slept in" until 6 AM, now that Chrisitina is getting herself up with her alarm clock. I had insomnia last night...arthritis acting up..so the minute the Twins are off to school, I'm off to bed for a nap!

LOL-I love the graphic ocean!. I've felt like that more than a few times myself. 6:55 a.m. here, and I have a STUPID, stupid, stupid, meeting to go to this morning. It's where my boss reads a memo to us, because, you know, we couldn't possibly be smart enough to read the stupid thing ourselves and just be done with it. Oh well. Good morning all. :D

6:21, i am having a very big cup of tea, chocolate and thinking, who is such a terrible person, who likes waking up early and who has organized the seminar's bus leaving at 7:30.. but the following 2 days are supposed to be very interesting, fun-filled and relaxing, so what can a simple human being like me want more.. *falls asleep over the keyboard*

Good Morning, LF!!! :)

It is 7:45 am and cloudy, about 70 F, very nice, and I am content with my yard. We were going to go canoeing yesterday, but we are so behind the yardwork from a combo of colds and allergies(pollen), that I just couldn't do it. Hence, my soreness this morning, but sidewalks are clean and edged, branches are trimmed, etc. The Hub really outdid himself, and my son helped a lot, too! We opted for a useful Mothers Day this year. It was an outstandingly beautiful day, being outdoors was a joy!

Sidenot: I really do not like being allergic, had no allergies at all when I was younger...*small grumble*.

It's 9:00am and we are drowning here in good old Mass. It has been downpouring for the last week and there are floods all over the place. It is also cold and damp. Have a great day!

I had to be up at four, but that is not as bad as it used to be. I made the last dinner for a child that got off work at eleven pm. totally exhausted and he had to keep up his strength(car injury), then I had to be up a couple of hours later around 3am to get the other child off. I fimly believe in showing love and making a nice meal and being there with them, life is short and uncertain and sometimes people don't come back, that much I have learned. So I was totally tired.
The baby has sleep problems and so it is one long long long night and up early.
But you adjust. you just must and there are so many good things to do and feel, it works out somehow.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.
When I was women's editor, I would be so exhausted mentally and physically after the paper was put to bed and the next day's stories already started that when I came home I would draw a hot bath and then put something to eat, a pot of tea and all that and a great book on a tray to have while I soaked away the day's cares.
But one day while reading the Nicholas/Alexandra letters and diaries I suddenly, rather instantly actually fell asleep. When I awoke the water and tea were very cold, my skin was totally 'pruned' and the paperback was floating sadly in the once bubbly bath water. Even though I dried it out and weighted it down during the effort my poor book was forever about eight inches thick!
So now it is a quick shower and if I get any time to read it is on the sofa where nothing much can happen except that Hasia will cover my head with yellow hasty notes and her sparkling stick ons.

Thanks, Star. Good Morning Musi :)

The sun is shining here - well trying to anyway and the wind has died down at last. It was like trying to sleep in a wind tunnel last night with all the sheeting and scaffolding up next door ( I shall try to post a pic later ) Every part of the scaffolding rattles, wooden struts falter and clatter to the ground, flapping sheets of tarpaulin clatter against the walls as the metal eyeletts chink against the scaffolding.
How the hell anyone is meant to sleep is beyond me. I could wring their necks! eek.....

Yes, timezones, what crazy things. In travelling to England, I will lose a day, when I return, I get it back! It seems rather irresponsible to lose and gain time in such a fashion.

I hope yesterday's dinner was good...is good...will be good...

Stop taunting me people, with your talk of spring!

At least today is clear, probably warm (I'll find out when I go for a walk at lunch). With the amount of rain we've had in the past few weeks, it's almost like a second spring...everything is very green, which is incredible to see after so long. The grass in the backyard has grown almost as tall as me!

Wonder if the lawnmower still works...?

Ah, time to revive an old thread...because the only times I visit you guys in the mornings is when I'm working a boring office job, or I've been up all night and am too wired to sleep. Unfortunately, today is the former:( I did manage a very good night's sleep last night, but maybe that's why I've felt so blech today. No matter whether I am kind or cruel to my body, it still refuses to co-operate some days. But, with the help of a friend (she also works a boring office job, so we exchange emails entirely in haiku all day), my mood is improving. And checking in with you guys helps:) Now, I just have to convince myself not to worry about some things and it'll be the long weekend before I know it.

Long weekend is due to Australia Day, which itself falls on Saturday. I am actually going to be doing some "typical Australian" things - a barbecue, a swimming pool, some beers. Rest of the weekend will see me playing some pool and catching up with friends. It also marks my first paid holiday ever.

Well, I don't know if there will be lamingtons and backyard cricket, but I can usually pass on those "typical Austalian" things:)

As you can imagine, I generally find barbecue food a bit limited for vegetarians - ends up being kebabs, or mostly grilled vegetables. You can try more unorthodox dishes - been known to have pancakes, stirfries, or those horrible soyburgers. I'm actually trying to find interesting things to do with it, because I'm getting bored:)

It's 10:40am here, on a not so good morning, because today is dragging again. Hope everyone else has a good Friday, when it starts for you:)

Aww, you don't like veggie burgers? I really do like some kinds. Maybe cause I've never had real ones before.

Corn on the cob grilled is yummy, too. But I think grilled vegetables are a bit boring otherwise.

I do love a good vegeburger, made of vegetables, beans or lentils, but I really don't go in for soy stuff. They were tried on the barbecue because they are pretty solid and hold their shape, I think. But I don't think I'll have them again.

I also really like grilled veges, they just get boring when you have them the same way all the time. I was thinking it could be worth trying to grill some halloumi cheese on the barbie, that would make for something more interesting than salad and bread. Maybe even some marinated firm tofu if I'm feeling like the risk?

Hehe, it's well past morning here, I've just had lunch, that long weekend draws closer...:)

I don't like soy burgers either. Some veggie or bean burgers are good though. The deli near me makes the best veggie burgers I've ever had.

I've grilled marinated tofu and vegetable shish kebabs and they turned out well. I forget what I used to marinate them though.

What is Australia day anyway? Is it like an independence day? Which also brings me to another question I was thinking about earlier--how did Australia separate from England?

What is Australia day anyway? Is it like an independence day? Which also brings me to another question I was thinking about earlier--how did Australia separate from England?

From the "Today is" thread,

Tomorrow is Australia Day, commemorating the day in 1788 when the First Fleet landed in Sydney and started us off on this European settlement thing.

The sentiment is kind of like an Independence day, a patriotic celebration, so you can guess that side of things doesn't really appeal to me.

As for separating from England, who says we have? We are still technically under British rule, the Queen our ultimate head of state in theory, but this is more a kind of technicality. Although, there was a political incident in the '70's, when the Governor General (the Queen's representative here) dismissed the then prime minister, Gough Whitlam. Big scandal. Years ago, the possibility of becoming a republic was tested, but didn't happen. I hope it does in the not too distant future. Although being a Commonwealth country makes some travel easier...

I hope it works out better than I'm expecting, too. Thanks a lot, Star. I hope your week turns out a lot brighter than the last few have been :)

it's 1:38 am and I am wide awake. It's Human Rights Awareness Week on campus, and I am co-ordinating an event single-handedly because the other seven people who are meant to be helping out have abandoned everything mid-planning, because their workloads have increased.
Event is Thursday. It is now Tuesday. *panic* I am not eight people!!!!
