This year I hope to read at least 60 books, works by 50 different poets, and 25 plays. If broken down the easiest way is to read at least 5 books, works by 5 poets (10 poems) and 3 plays a month.

January:
1. Looking for Alaska by John Green (my second favorite book)
2. Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. (Watched part of the movie this weekend and finally read the copy I had at home.)
3. The Horse Goddess by Morgan Llywelyn. [January Book Club choice; loved it!]
4. Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan. Yes, I have recently become enthralled with the Percy Jackson series. (I may be in my early twenties but I love the occasional young adult series.)
5. The Neurotic's Handbook by Charles A. Monagan. (A comedic view on the eccentric behaviors of people. I found myself constanly laughing outloud while reading.)
6. Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan. (Again with my newest obsession.)
7. Bloodroot: Reflections on Place by Appalachian Women Writers (It was really good, it gave insight to the stereotypes that overshadow not only women writers but writers from the Appalachian Mountains and how having both strikes against you causes more strife.)
8. Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan.
9. Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan. (Last book of this series. =[ =[ )
10. Car'rie Pil'by by Caren Lissner (Loved it! It reminded me somewhat of how my thoughts work and how they tend to flow...almost like you are in the mind of the character.)
11. Raise High the Roof Beams, Carpenters and Seymour: An Introduction by JD Salinger. (It makes me sad that he didn't write more novels about the Glass family, although 3/4 of the novels are about the family, lol. I love the complex storyline that Salinger set up.)

February:
12. The Sea-Wolf by Jack London. (It took getting used to because I have read White Fang and Call of the Wild and reading a non-animal Jack London book took me for a loop that and I have no nautical knowledge whatsoever but halfway through I was completely hooked. I liked how although it wasn't about animals but it did explore animalistic qualities in mankind.)
13. The Heroes of Olympus: The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. (I'm excited to know if they find Percy...too bad the next book in this series doesn't come out until fall.)
14. Five Skies by Ron Carlson (I found this author because of an independent film based on a short story that Heath and I watched that we loved. I was torn about my feeling for the book because I liked it but it was a "slow" plot; I liked the storyline but I felt like it was spacey and dry.)
15. Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle. (I loved it! All three authors have similiar story styles, in fact, for a moment I was convinced that Maureen Johnson story was John Green's....I love how the authors clearly got together and worked the characters and their background information out and all the stories intertwined. =] )
16. All The Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy [February Book Club Choice; loved it!] (Really interesting book and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series and a few other books by McCarthy. If it hadn't been for the book club thread, I may have never read this book.)
17. Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris. (YAY! Sookie Stackhouse!!! =])
18. A Touch of Dead: Sookie Stackhouse: The Complete Stories by Charlaine Harris (YAYY! More Sookie Stackhouse!!!)
19.The Crossing by Cormac McCarthy.
20. Cities of the Plain by Cormac McCarthy (At this point, I can say that I am addicted to his writing style and probably will have plenty more of his books on this list. =])
21. Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Alborn. (Honestly, it was such an emotional book. I was 110% emotionally involved and I cried and laughed both. I do have one question: Why is this not a movie yet?)

March:
22.Light Beneath Ferns by Anne Spollen
23.Halo by Alexandra Adornetto
24.Blood Meridian or The Evening Redness in the West by Cormac McCarthy
25.Spencer's Mountain by Earl Hamner, Jr. (I have a new appreciation for mamaw's favorite show The Walton's after reading this.)
26.Bloodroot by Amy Greene (I've come to realize that in books both fiction and non-fiction about the Appalachian Mountains bloodroot, a type of flower common in the Appalachian Mtns, is a common theme.)
27.The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. (Really good book. I was surprised at how easy the reading was with the Spanish mixed in; I guess I've had enough Spanish courses and books with conversational Spanish the past few weeks that I've picked up the language a bit. =])
28. You Can't Get There From Here by Earl Hamner, Jr.
29.The Homecoming: A Novel about Spencer's Mountain by Earl Hamner, Jr.
30. The Juliet Club by Suzanne Harper. [March Book Club Choice; really good book] ( I loved how they used elements of Shakespeare to tell a story about modern star-crossed lovers in the setting of Romeo and Juliet. It was perfectly melded into a story that had a simple but loveable plot.)
31. The Perfect Mistress by Victoria Alecxander
32. P.S, I Love You by Cecilia Ahren (I loved it and the movie as seperate beings; I was surprised at the differences in the book and movie and I was even more surprised that I was excited at the differences. =])
33. No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy.
34. The Road by Cormac McCarthy
35. Red Riding Hood by Sarah Blakley-Cartwright

52. Dreamhunter by Elizabeth Knox [April Book Club Choice; I liked it.]
53. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen [OMG! I loved this book! It's not surprising that they turned it into a movie and I can't wait to see if the movie is as good as the novel.]
54. Visions of Sugar Plums by Janet Evanovich
55. The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks.
56. [I]Outer Dark by Cormac McCarthy.

72. Night's Edge by Maggie Shayne, Charlaine Harris, and Barbara Hambley

I figure two poems by each poet should suffice that would equal a total of a hundred poems read. The plays are going to be the hardest for me. My whole mission is to attempt the allotted number...if I succeed I succeed and if I fail then I'll try harder next year. =]

I figured I would start the new year with one of my favorite books.

I've been trying to find Let it Snow. Let it Snow and Will Grayson, Will Grayson are the only two I haven't read; coincidently, the books that he has co-authored I haven't read. =[

I love all of John Green's books; in order, my favorites are Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns, and then An Abundance of Katherines.

My favorite book of all time is Watership Down by Richard Adams. =]

=] Sometimes they have the quick-paced storyline that I crave ...and they are just simply fun to enjoy and get into.

I feel bad for Luke in the Percy Jackson series.

It really was sad and Hermes really felt bad that he couldn't admit to Luke that everything would be okay in the end. I did like how Riordan turned Luke into an anti-hero but redeemed him in the end, very similiar to Snape's charater in Harry Potter.
