I'm looking to see if there are any other fans of Suzanne Collins series Hunger Games with Katniss Everdeen. I found these to be great YA books.

The storyline is good, but I can see where they might be a little slow to pull you in. Maybe now it will be easier with all three out. I have an easier time with a series if I don't have to wait for the publishing company. I read too many books to remember a storyline for too long!

I read somewhere today that they are bringing Hunger Games out as a movie for 2011.

I think I'm going to try the series. I haven't read many young adult books but based on reviews on this series, it seems promising.

This was a new text at the last school I was at and both the students and I enjoyed it. I did feel that the events didn't quite fit with what I expected from the story as everything was far too easy for Katniss and there wasn't the degree of emotional and moral conflict that I expected the main characters to go through. Tried reading the last two books and couldn't get through them though. For the age group it was aimed at it works well.

I agree with Morag - I was surprised that there was so little moral conflict for Katniss. That being said, it definitely speaks to the severity of the situation/atmospheric dystopia of the book. I typically don't read a lot of teen lit. (Twilight had me swear off it), but I enjoyed The Hunger Games.
Cheers,

I have just started to read the book, but have already seen the movie as part of a work event. I find myself comparing the two and have actually had a few moments where the book filled in some of the background behind a few scenes that I had found a little lacking in the movie. The only major down-side is that all of the characters in my head look like the characters in the movie.
Have any of you who have already read the book seen the movie? What did you think?

anyone hanging out in this thread can also head over to our April Book of the Month discussion too. :) http://www.literaturejunction.com/showthread.php/118595-The-Hunger-Games-by-Suzanne-Collins-is-April-2012-BOM
I'll probably watch the movie once I finish the book. However, the posters and stills of the movie have already invaded my mind. And I cannot picture Katniss any other way when I read.
