View Full Version : Autumn, time for wonderful soups

This is the time of year, when the trees outside our windows turn fire red and lemon yellow, when the morning air is crisp and refreshing, to turn my thoughts to making nutritious and flavorful soups.
Today I am making a minnestrone and tomorrow a hearty lentil soup. I love making everything from scratch. Yesterday I had finished soaking the beans over night, then cooked them and today I will make the broth from veggies and tomatoe paste, garlic,extra virgin olive oil, spices and herbs and I will use a very Italian high quality spaghattini noodle.
I will make a nice flat bread to go with it and a crisp green salad. Today is Travis's birthday so I am making, instead of a cake, light and fluffy cinnamon buns drizzled with cream cheese icing, blue tinted. The smell of cinnamon on such a day is heavenly.
