The quote is by Louisa May Alcott “I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.” I need an exact source with a name and a date for a reference in an essay, and I cannot find it anywhere. Where is this quote taken from? THANKS!

You know, upon looking quickly thru Google, and my copy of Little Women (it sounded like something Beth would say...), I have no idea where that quote came from! It is also attributed to Helen Keller and Aeschylus, and the citation isn't given! Not mentioned on Snopes, either...

Hmmmm. Good question!

Ha! Found it: Chapter 44, Little Women, it would be on the first page of the chapter:

“Lovely weather so far. I don’t know how long it will last, but I’m not afraid of storms, for I’m learning how to sail my ship. Come home, dear, and I’ll find your bootjack. I suppose that’s what you are rummaging after among my things. Men are so helpless, Mother,” said Amy, with a matronly air, which delighted her husband.

It was Amy, not Beth....http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Little_Women/Chapter_44
