Hi , I am into science fiction books that focus particulary on the Genetics side e.g The Series by Scott Westerfield - Uglies, Pretties, Specials and Extras , Bernard Becketts book Genesis and I am currently reading Skinned by Robin Wasserman author of the seven deadly sins series. Another thing in Sci-Fi that I am into is the whole new world like Fleur Beale's Juno of Taris .
What are other recommendations or things that attract you to the theme or genre?
The Twilight Zone (books and TV episodes) were a huge influence for Scott Westerfeld's Uglies series, especially http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_Twelve_Looks_Just_Like_You I highly recommend that episode and that series (the short stories are great).
I liked Westerfeld's Peeps duology more than his Uglies or Midnighters series, neither of which I finished. The two latter series seemed to borrow too much from other works and so they both really lacked originality for me. Peeps, on the other hand, was a pretty unique story (though I guess not that unique when viewed next to I am Legend).
I like John Christopher's Tripods trilogy.
Probably some of my favorite sci-fi writings come from Ray Bradbury and Isaac Asimov.
Gosh, there's so much in the genre, I'll have to think on this more.
