Did anyone read this book by stephan king, I did, I thought it was really cool. I am still not sure if the car was evil, or if it was just a gateway opened between two opposit worlds by an evil man, the guy who drove the car to the gas station in the first place. I thought the small town life was acuratly depicted and it reminded me of a place I once spent a couple years of my life. It was an inticing book, I really couldn't put it down. What did you guys think of it?

I haven't read it, but it sounds good...I'm in the mood for a good horror book, and Stephen King is the only modern-day horror writer that I like.
Did you read "Christine" by King? Buik 8 sounds similar.

I saw the movie, It is slightly similar but the car in the buick 8 is stationary it doesn't move, but it could be argued that it is evil.

Read A Buick 8, I thought it was pretty good, but not King's best work I'll tell you that much. The best part of the entire novel was that one page describing the time after they killed that "creature" (sorry if u haven't read this book!!!) and they all wondered if it was okay to kill if the creature wasn't human. That was a mind bender for me. I just couldn't figure if that is still murder. . . any thoughts?

I haven't read the book....but was it necessary to kill the creature for reasons of self defense?

That's a good point, that oceanflower made. I don't think they knew if the creature was dangerous, or just frightened, or so frightened it could become dangerous, but they killed it I guess to make sure they "covered their bases" I haven't read this book in months but from what I remember, It didnt' attack them, but they were alarmed by its appearance. I think if I were in their place, I'd try to get out of there before I act out. If it tried to attack me, even if by that point it was too late, I'd protect myself. Does anyone remember if the creature attacked?

Maybe it's the reincarnation of Christine.

It's not really a flat-out horror, though. It's a little bit stranger than Christine and it's a little bit more vague and subtle. It's one of those things you really have to read for yourself before casting judgement on it.

I read 3/4 of this book and became distracted. I will say that it had a good hook and kept me reading non stop but it didn't keep me. I felt like he was spread a little thin on this one. I am a Stephen King fan and I believe that this was his first book since his accident and he never thought he could write again so I am glad he got going on this. My favorites by him though are "The Dead Zone" and I love his short story collections. His book "On Writing" is also great for aspiring writers.

This was the last SK book I read, it was a good read but i think the ending was not very good and I wanted to kow more about the strange character in the black coat...
I think a prequel to this book would be amazing!

The car was nicely described and conceptualized. The 'evil' in it was, well, a lot more subtle. I won't even say it was 'evil' the way Christine was evil. It was just outwordly... (can't say more to prevent spoilers) I think SKing is getting old and more nuanced in his thinking.
I didn't really like the rest. Stephen King's characters get stale after a while, and it drags on.
It should be a free book I think. They had some microsoft reader promotion allowing you to DL it FOC.
