Where is that, I do not have my dad handy to identify the tree, but it appears to be a rainforest tree...

creme_ala_creme78
04-19-2004, 11:23 PM
cant be rainforest, the trunks would be bigger and the ground wetter and more covered....

dunno what kind tho....maybe redwood (or whatever is in california that's so tall)

Have you ever heard of the british festival where they burn stuff, I don't remember what it is called but some friedns of mine were telling me about it, it sounded pretty cool.

ooohhh....i wanna go....

mazarane
04-21-2004, 06:48 AM
I can't remember what the trees in the background are (you can see where my priorities lie ) but the ones going on the fire are rhododendron. It's on Brownsea Island, Poole Harbour on the south coast of England.

Eradicating rhododendron is fairly high on the agenda for a lot of conservation organizations in the UK- it might have pretty flowers but it chokes out other growth and releases toxins into the soil. On Brownsea it's really for it as it reduces the habitat available for native red squirrels (generally they've been pushed out by grey squirrels, Brownsea is the only place they can be found in southern England now). They've been working on the problem for about 40 years and have about another 30 to go till its all gone!

And the amount of wood on it is fine if you are continuously chucking more on :D ; I don't think it ever went particularly hungry :P

Bonfire Night. 5th November. It celebrates a terrorist... Well, it depends on how you look at it... I am in favour of him, as he was trying to get rid of the monarchy.

I don't feel they should be in power just because they were born into that family. They do not deserve to be, Prince Charles is obviously not intelligent, etc.

creme_ala_creme78

i disagree w/ the monarchy as well, but then again, all ive ever known is democracy so yall have a whole different perspective on it than me, but prince charles would definitely not be my first choice for a king, but prince harry isnt much better....
