A ray of sunlight illuminated a letter,
The letter was written in a precise hand,
It was that of friendship bordering on love,
A slender hand, irradiated by moonlight,
*****d a gentle decline in a slanting hand.
The black ink asked for friendship,
The paper signified another attachment,
The responding pen consented to friendship,
In swirls of time these hands diverged,
And in a conjugal way tied different knots.
One hand closed an eye in gentle sleep,
From the other a wedding ring fell,
The foliaged hand of fate in time,
Connubially converged the divided hands.
This is a poem I wrote for Poetry and Poetic Forms at university and is based on my dad and stepmother's romantic story.
