Since this is a small community, and I know many of you, I was wondering if anyone would like a Google+ invite from me. I won't give you one unless we know each other already from legitimate forum interaction (i.e. anyone who posts on here regularly and isn't a spammer) :)

There isn't really much going on in Google+ land yet, but I'm curious to watch and see how it develops. And I need to add some more people to my circles who are actually on google+, so that's why I'm happy to invite you guys . . . send me a PM or other form of message if you are interested.

margaine, what is google+? I've never heard of it.

My initial reaction is, much as I LOVE Google, I like spreading my communication along different lines - email, forum, Facebook, etc. Google is just getting extremely multidimensional.

However, I'm open to discussion!

Google+ is Google's newest attempt to enter the world of social networking in a way that could compete (they hope) with Facebook and twitter.

It isn't really that integrated with gmail, which I guess could be seen as good or bad. But so far, there aren't that many people on it, so it's hard to say where it will go . . . in a lot of ways, it combines useful aspects of both Facebook and twitter. As with twitter, you can do the equivalent of "following" someone on google+ - so you can read celebrities' posts without having to friend request them. But like Facebook, you can limit sharing to different groups of people ("circles" they call them) if you want. They have done a fairly good job of making their privacy options fairly straightforward. (and their version of Facebook's "like" feature is called "+1" btw)

I think it could have a lot of potential. And Facebook is starting to feel so bogged down to me - so many people sharing so much, and you start to feel obligated to be friends with someone just cause you went to middle school with them, or whatever . . . Google+ seems like a fresh start for me.

I am so NOT a techie. So don't take anything I've said too seriously. I pay attention to how things look and feel.

I don't have enough dorky friends anxious to get on google+, so my "circles" are rather empty. I got an invite from _object, and it has made the rounds of his family members. but my google+ network stops right about there at the moment. everyone I know seems to be too busy posting depressing articles about higher education on facebook to be interested in google+ (that's really my pet peeve right now, sorry to mention it in several places)

I've gotten an invite a while ago and submitted my real age - 16. They are keeping the trial stage 18+ but ever since I got the invite two weeks ago I've been wanting to log on to it.

I think it would actually be great to set up a reading Circle so every book related thing we post goes to our book loving friends!
