Years ago when I was at Primary School (ok, to some people that may not seem like it was a very long time ago, as I'm only 17) I read a book from my school library but I can't now remember it's name or author. I'm pretty sure it's a fantasy novel, and I'm hoping someone will recognise it. I'm also hoping that I'm not confusing 2 books, as I can't remember much about this book anymore.

It starts with a boy cycling somewhere - nearest town, maybe? - and stopping outside a pawn shop because something caught his eye. Something in there, I can't remember what, eventually leads him to go on a journey... after that I can only remember a couple of things, such as the start of this journey involves him walking through mist, with candles lighting as he walks past them. Somewhere in there there are wolves involved too. Later on there's sommething significant about a stone - a red stone.

I'm afraid that's it, but if anyone recognises any of that, and could let me know a title or author, I'd be very grateful.

I've not heard of it, but I'll keep you in mind if I ever do stumble upon it.
